A: A sad fact of life is that if you host parties, you get a mess. Teenagers leave cigarette burns, adults spill wine and kids make a mess with food and crayons. The good news is, like most unusual stains, crayon is not too hard to remove. For a dried-in stain, a bit of WD 40 needs to be applied, after which you should wait five minutes. When you have done so, you can use a bristly brush - such as a toothbrush or a wire one - to scrape up and loosen some of the wax. Following this, you should apply a bit of washing up liquid. This combination will loosen the wax enough to wipe clean with a cloth, leaving your carpet looking great. Once this is done, you may wish to ensure the next kids' party takes place at someone else's house!
A: No. Regular vacuuming is an important part of complete carpet maintenance. Vacuuming will help to remove dry soil particles that can dull fibers and cause matting to occur.
A. It is a common question and the answer is actually yes and no! Red wine contains a pigment similar to fabric dyes so when it is spilt on fabric, like carpet, it is likely to stain. The best way to prevent this is to act fast and this is where white wine comes in to the equation. Water is the best option but club soda or white wine can be used and, in many social gatherings, if a bottle of red wine is open then there will probably be a nearby bottle of white wine. Rather than rushing to get water it is quicker in this case to use white wine. Once you have poured a small amount of water or white wine on to the stain you must carefully blot it from the outside edge in so that the stain doesn't spread. Never rub or wipe at the stain as this will make the stain much deeper and far more difficult to remove. However, this is not the end of the process. Although this damage limitation is a vital step it is unlikely that it will totally prevent staining so you should still treat the affected area with carpet stain remover to restore your carpet to its original glory. Another unusual trick which can prove effective is to sprinkle a thick layer of salt over the stain and vacuuming it once the salt has absorbed the liquid.
